The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development Cluster, is one of the main technical arms of The Royal Scientific Society, its role is to conduct R&D in ICT yielding to products for commercialisation locally, regionally, and internationally.
The Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for Development cluster was founded in 1972, two years after the establishment of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS).
ICT for Development cluster is committed to maintaining well-performed applied research and specialised technical consultation and services based on approved national and international standards, procedures and methods of software development and studies, ICT for Development cluster has been ISO 9001 certified since January 2001.
ICT for Development Cluster focuses on the following cross functional services;
Research and Development
Conducting applied research locally and internationally through partnership with concerned international institutions in the various fields of ICT.
ICT for Development Cluster has completed and is currently participating in several EU Projects that includes developing IT tools to help people in Jordan . These projects were in collaboration with many EU and Mediterranean partners and led to several applications and products helping decision makers make fast and accurate choices. Research performed in ICT for Development is funded by many respectful institutions such as (JICA, NITC, IDRC, USAID, and many others.

All ICTD divisions are involved in Software development, it entails establishment of integrated management information systems, workflow systems and core business automation systems, including system analysis, design, programming, testing, system integration, user acceptance, user training, and documentation. Developed applications include Integrated Hazardous Material Management Solution (IHMMS),Air Quality Management Solution (AQMS), E-Labs Solution, Medical Equipment Solution (MES), E-University Solution, Environmental Data Bank Solution (EDBS), E-Vehicle Insurance Solution, and Government Human Resource Management Solution (GHRMS). In addition, ICT for Development provides Tailor-Made software solutions such as Financial and Administrative Solutions, e-Government Solutions, Environmental Solutions, Mobile Applications and Billing Systems. ICT for Development clients include local and International organizations in various specialisations.
ICT Solutions Consultation
The different divisions in ICT for Development are involved in the identification of the computerisation needs of institutions in terms of information systems each depending on its area of specialisation; Hardware, Software Applications, and Training, in addition to preparing master plans for Implementation, Network Design Architectures, Evaluation of bids, and Supervision of Implementation. Many private and public institutions have taken avail of these services, such as; developing software for integrated management information system, conducting requirement analysis studies for the computerisation and establishment of computer centres, in addition to participating through technical committees in assessing tenders for the private and public sectors.
Software Quality and Testing
ICT for Development through its specialised division; “The Software Testing and Technical Support (STTS) division” is responsible to Develop Software Quality standards, templates and improve software testing skills to build a tester team among the ICT for Development employees. The employees are trained to get a detailed idea about the Software Quality Procedures and Quality Assurance Techniques in addition to be introduced to the different roles available in Software Quality such as (Tester, Test Analyst, and Test Engineer).
Advanced Training and Knowledge Transfer
ICT for Development Cluster is working on transferring the Royal Scientific Society’s vast knowledge in ICT to the local community, in order to meet and sustain social and economic development. ICT for Development Cluster is specialised in short-term and long-term ICT-related training courses that involve distinctive training capabilities through utilising specialised trainers and lecturers, teaching aids, along with state of the art computer laboratories.
