HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan has called on Arab countries to work together in order to solve the growing water crisis in the Arab World. Speaking at the Opening Session of Arab Water Week 2013, the Princess, who was representing HRH Prince Hassan bin Talal, the event’s Patron, told delegates that we should all recognise that the flow of surface water is trans-boundary and truly international:

An agreement was signed in Amman between the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and the United States Agency for International Development’s project The Public Action for Water, Energy & Environment (PAP) to promote the participation of youth and community based organizations in issues of water and energy efficiency and conservation through the promotion of water-saving devices and energy-saving light bulbs in Ajloun, Mafraq and Ramtha areas.

In order to enhance the effectiveness of their development efforts, the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and UN-HABITAT signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration. RSS’ mission is to build and strengthen scientific research in key areas of strategic value to Jordan’s long-term competitiveness and development. UN-Habitat’s global endeavour is to promote ‘Sustainable Urban Development and ‘Shelter for All’.
