We proudly announce the establishment of a chapter of the Global Network of Young Mappers ‘YouthMappers’, in partnership with elite students of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) and the Research for Sustainability Team at the Royal Scientific Society. The Director of El-Hassan Research Chair in Sustainability Prof.Iain Stewart and his research assistant Kifah Harahsheh adopted the idea of establishing a branch PSUT YouthMappers, with the active support of the President of PSUT, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija and Dr. Mohammad Al-Omari, Vice Dean of the King Talal School of Business Technology.
It is worth mentioning that PSUT YouthMappers is one of the first branches of YouthMappers in Jordan and the Middle East. It is an international network of university students who apply open source digital mapping technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to address global challenges, especially in the field of sustainable development. The organization provides opportunities for mapping, capacity building and collaboration between youth, universities and development organizations.
PSUT Youthmappers was established with the aim of mapping and creating spatial data that would contribute to providing development solutions for places that suffer from natural or human hazards. It aims to involve youth in the process of sustainable development and humanitarian action, and to promote youth-led innovation, leadership and community service.
