Overview

The Advanced Research unit is a specialised initiative dedicated to the design and discovery of new materials and technologies, and to devising solutions to society’s pressing challenges. We are a team of creative researchers who work together in a collaborative and transdisciplinary environment, applying new ways of thinking to complex questions and innovating novel applications for new technologies. The project includes three distinct but complementary research units: Biosynthesis & Biocatalysis unit, Advanced Materials & Applications unit, and the Collaborative Research User Facility.

Our Services

Morphology

Instrumentation, techniques, and expertise for exceptionally high-resolution imaging and analytical characterisation of materials such as Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).

Thermal Analysis and Thermal Stability

Studying the thermal characteristic for the material using Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC).

Surface Area and Porosity Analysis (BET) and Gas Sorption Analysis

World-class gas adsorption instrumentation for mesuring surface area, pore size and affinity to different gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapor and nitogen.

Crystallography

Advanced X-ray diffractometers for determining solid-state molecular structure of crystalline samples.
