Dedicated to pioneering advancements in renewable energy and energy efficiency, the National Energy Research Centre (NERC) spearheads cutting-edge research, consultancy development, and training initiatives. NERC offers a diverse range of specialised services, spanning from solar thermal energy, photovoltaic, and geothermal solutions to wind energy, bio-energy, and energy efficiency. Our Centre provides a full range of services covering renewable energy and energy efficiency projects development, as well as consulting services such as construction supervision, commissioning, energy auditing, techno-economic feasibility studies, and performance tests and assessments for projects, buildings, and facilities.

Our Divisions

Energy Efficiency & Solar Thermal Energy Division

This division conducts energy efficiency projects and offers consultancy on measurements and verifications. We provide training and awareness programmes, support energy reduction efforts, and serve third parties with technical and techno-economic expertise in energy efficiency measures. Our testing laboratories for lighting, energy labelling, and solar thermal testing enhance our capabilities.

Solar Photovoltaics Division

This division is dedicated to the full development and management of photovoltaic (PV) projects, providing specialized technical and consulting services throughout all phases of implementation. These phases include project planning, design validation, construction supervision, and system commissioning. In addition, the division conducts comprehensive techno-economic feasibility studies, performance evaluations, and on-site testing of PV modules, inverters, and system infrastructure. The focus is on ensuring technical reliability, regulatory compliance, and optimal system performance for both utility-scale and distributed solar projects. Furthermore, the division emphasizes the integration of advanced technologies and best practices to deliver efficient, sustainable, and economically viable PV solutions.

Bio-Energy & Wind Energy Division

This division drives advancements in wind energy, conducting wind potential assessment studies, feasibility analyses, and offering ongoing support for wind projects. We facilitate skill development through training, workshops, and consultations, boosting local expertise in wind energy. Our commitment extends to waste-to-biofuel conversion, deploying new technologies in collaboration with the European Union, GIZ, and USAID. We provide bio-energy technology transfer, unit design, construction, operation, and management services, along with capacity building and awareness initiatives.
